Since Bobby and I live so far away from our family and friends, I decided to start a blog to keep everyone up to date on the happenings of our life.
For those of you that don't know, here is a little history on us. Bobby and I married in August, 2008 and moved to Colorado Springs, CO shortly after the honeymoon (like the day after). Bobby was moved here by BBVA Compass to work in a training program to become a relationship manager. He picked a quaint 700 square foot apartment that had incredible mountain views for our first home. After moving here, I was hired by Compassion International to work in the contact center. To make a long story short, we now have two children (Aspen, our aussie, and Lucy, our crazy cat) and live in a home that we put our blood, sweat, and tears into.
We love our life in Colorado- but miss our friends and family dearly. We moved here on a cloud of adventure and continue to enjoy our time- but this doesn't replace the feel of "home." Texas.
A few nights ago we had the opportunity to have dinner with a couple that have basically become our heroes- the Jordan's. When helping Jessica plan for her wedding, I pretty much became part of their family, and I embraced them as my own. We went to PF Changs and had a great meal. God has given them a vision, and it was so encouraging to hear about.
Lately, we have been fretting a lot about what our future looks like. We have tried to plan it out, tie it up, and wrap it like a Martha Stewart Christmas special- but every time we do this, God unties the ribbon and removes our perfectly laid plans. One thing we learned from the Jordan's:
Live one day at a time. We have all heard this right? But really contemplate this truth. How many of us have a 5, 10, or 15 year plan? I know that we have tried to make them many times. Just because we can't see all of the pieces of the puzzle doesn't mean we need to freak out. I truly think that we would mess up the picture if we were given all of the pieces now to put together. We are pretty young- should we really expect God to hand us the ending of our story when we are still reading the beginning?
Anyways, we are now looking for things to do in our spare time. I decided to start an Etsy store (http://www.etsy.com/shop/purelychicforyou) to feed my creative need. I think Bobby is going to join a tennis league and maybe give some computer lessons.
He keeps saying that we need to join a sports league, and I just keep looking at him to see if he is joking. Does he know who he married? Golf was the only sport I played in high school, and I disliked it very much. :) Maybe I can talk him into taking some dance lessons.
Jessica recently got me into FaithfulProvisions, a savings blog. This woman only spends $40 a week on groceries for a family of four. I'm lucky to make it out under $100. Needless to say, I've learned some great tricks and tips from her. Interested? www.faithfulprovisions.com
So, some of you may know that I started a wedding planning business (Purely Chic Events). This is an example of me jumping into a dream when it wasn't quite through marinating yet. I did have a few brides who wanted to sign a contract, but I decided that now is not the time to pursue this. Even if Bobby and I are here for another few years, what happens when we move? Everything I worked for would be lost. I would rather wait until we are settled to start pursuing this- and when I am not working full time!
That's all for now. Love to you all!
I am so excited about your new blogging :)
ReplyDeleteI am also very excited about your new etsy shop --- I shared it with the LSM girls.
